First, we’ll want to know a bit about you

We’ll then be in touch with you to find out more about you and your finances. For instance, to make sure we have your details up to date, and to get information about your household’s income and outgoings. After all, it’s important to know that anyone we lend money to has the ability to repay it.

The following documents are required in support of your application:

  • Proof of ID, valid passport/driving licence/age card etc.;
  • Proof of address, utility bill etc., must be dated in the last six months;
  • Proof of PPS;
  • Three recent payslips (and/or Social Welfare slips);
  • Bank Account statement for previous three months;
  • Pay/Pension slip (if applicable);
  • Mortgage Statement (if applicable);
  • Credit Card Statement (if applicable);
  • Other Loan Statements (if applicable);
  • If renting, proof of rent is required by means of a letter from your landlord or letting agent;
  • Student loan, proof of College acceptance required and a guarantor may also be required to cosign the loan;
  • Proof of income for spouse/partner (if applicable);
  • For self employed members – the end of year accounts will be required as part of the application process;
  • Valid Tax Certificate (Self employed).

Loan applications will be considered promptly and in the strictest of confidence. It is our policy to turn around loan decisions without undue delay.

Loan applications can be made for any purpose such as Car, Education, Home Improvements and Special Occasions such as Holidays, Weddings etc.

You can also apply for a top–up on an existing loan at any time. You don’t have to repay one loan in full before applying for another.

Security and Guarantors

For larger loans the credit committee may insist on other security such as assignable insurance policies or a legal charge on a property. Guarantors may also be sought by the Credit Committee to support the loan application.

Should the member fail to repay the loan, there is a legal obligation on the guarantor to repay the loan.

What is a Credit Agreement?

A Credit Agreement, once signed, is a legally binding contract between the member taking out a loan and St. Paul’s Garda Credit Union Ltd. The agreement contains the Terms and Conditions under which the loan will be issued and under which it must be repaid by the member.

By signing the Credit Agreement, a member agrees to be bound by its terms and conditions.
