You may apply to join the credit union by:

  • Completing the Membership Form
  • Providing the proof of ID and Address and other documentation set out in the Form.
  • Lodging at least €10 to shares

The Criminal justice Act, 2010 – 2013 places a statutory obligation on St. Paul’s Garda Credit Union Limited to take reasonable measures to establish the identity of any person prior to the establishment of a business relationship with that person, and on an ongoing basis thereafter. You must provide Proof of Identification with Date of Birth, and proof of Address.

What you need to join

1. Your Photo ID

A valid Passport, Driving Licence (Learner Permit or Full), or ML10 Form

Joint Account? If you are opening a joint account we will require proof of ID for both parties on the account.

Married? If you are married – just provide your Marriage Certificate to cover any proof that is in your maiden name.

Minor – Under 16? If no photographic ID is available a full version of child’s birth certificate plus photo ID for parent/guardian will be acceptable.

2. Your Proof of Address

Joint Account? If you are opening a joint account we will require proof of address for both parties on the account

 

Examples:

  • Utility Bill (e.g. Phone, Gas, Electricity)
  • Bank Account Statement
  • Revenue Letters/Documents (e.g. tax cert)

Your proof of address must be dated within the last 6 months

3. Your PPS Number

You must provide verification of your PPSN to comply with Revenue requirements for DIRT reporting. Return of Payments (Banks, Building Societies, Credit Union and Savings banks) regulations 2008, amended 2015, and the Credit Reporting Act 2013.

Joint Account? If you are opening a joint account we will require proof of PPSN for both parties on the account

  • Employment Detail Summary (formerly P60), P45
  • P21 Balancing Statement
  • Employers Payslip
  • Drugs Payment Card
  • European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)

*Public Services Card is not permitted for proof of PPSN

Minor – Under 16?

  • Drugs Payment Card
  • European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)
  • Social service card for the child or a letter from the department of Social and Family Affairs confirming their PPS Number.

Children/Minor Accounts (u16)

What do you need?

  • A certified copy of the minor’s Birth Certificate showing their D.O.B.;
  • Parent/Guardian photo ID must be up to date as above:
  • Parent/Guardian proof of Address must be up to date as above.

Please note:

  • Only the Parent/Guardian listed on the application form is permitted to access funds on behalf of and for the benefit of the minor.
  • The Parent/Guardian must be a member of St. Paul’s Garda Credit Union.
  • This authorisation is allowed only up to the minor’s 16th birthday, after which time the minor will have sole authority to access funds from this account.
