Our Planet

Under our Planet pillar, we focus on understanding and reducing our environmental impact over time. Our approach prioritises actions that are measurable, practical, and appropriate to the scale of our operations.

This includes improving the energy efficiency of our buildings, monitoring and reporting on our carbon footprint, and assessing opportunities to reduce reliance on fossil fuels over time. Environmental actions are evaluated based on impact, cost-effectiveness, and long-term operational resilience.

In 2025, we engaged Climeaction to carry out an on-site energy audit, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce emissions. We also use GreenFeet carbon accounting software to measure emissions and track performance over time.

Our total carbon footprint for 2025 was 61.93 tCO₂e. This baseline includes emissions across three scopes, as defined by the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, and provides a clear starting point for future measurement and improvement:

Scope 1 Scope 2 Scope 3
Definition Emissions generated directly by the business and its activities. Indirect emissions related to supplied energy. All other indirect emissions occurring upstream or downstream of the value chain.
Applicable to St Paul’s Garda Credit Union Gas for building heating. Fuel consumed by company vehicles. Electricity from national grid. Waste. Emissions related to employees working from home. Employee commuting.
